CFC’s Chula Chowk project is a significant program aiming at promoting the health and well-being of low-income households in Karachi who often use firewood to cook their meals. Cooking with firewood not only adds to deforestation but also causes respiratory diseases in families. The project intends to solve these difficulties by supplying LPG (gas) cylinders to women in Karachi’s Bengali neighborhood of Machar Colony.
The initiative will assist 50 women twice a week by providing informative sessions on nutrition, food hygiene, and mental health awareness. This will not only enhance their general health, but will also provide them with a forum for sharing and problem-solving in everyday life. As more affordable solar cooking options become available, the use of natural gas as a “clean fuel” will be phased out.
The Chula Chowk initiative promotes the use of clean and safe cooking fuels in order to decrease the health risks connected with the usage of firewood. Pakistan is projected to profit from the initiative by enhancing family health and well-being, supporting sustainable practices, and reducing deforestation.
